Overview

MorrLog is an offline-first field logging app. You can use its core logging features without creating a MorrLog account. Projects are stored on your Android device by default.

Project data

Project data may include notes, photos, attachments, GPS coordinates, equipment details, readings, checklists, fault records and author or device labels. You choose what to record.

MorrLog does not upload your projects, photos, attachments or full database to MorrLog-operated servers. If you choose a backup folder, MorrLog copies the backup archive you create to that location, where it is handled by the storage provider under its own privacy policy. The optional AI features send a limited amount of text to MorrLog's AI service; see "AI features" below.

AI features

MorrLog's AI features are optional and run only when you choose to use them. When you do, MorrLog sends a limited request over an encrypted connection to its AI service at api.morrlog.app, which uses a third-party AI provider to generate the result:

  • Field suggestions and project setup: the short description and trade you type.
  • AI reports and handovers: the project name and a brief summary of entries, including categories, entry titles and a short excerpt of each entry's notes.
  • Voice-to-entry: the text transcribed from your dictation and the field labels of the selected log type.

MorrLog does not send your photos, attachments, GPS coordinates or full project database to the AI service. Because entry titles, notes and project names can contain personal or client information, only use AI features with data you are comfortable sending for processing. These inputs are transmitted to generate the requested text.

Exports and backups

Exports and full backups are created only when you request them. You may share them through Android apps and services you select. Full backups are unencrypted ZIP archives and can contain sensitive project data, photographs and GPS locations.

MorrLog disables Android automatic cloud backup. Use MorrLog's export and backup tools to maintain your own copies of important records.

Permissions and device services

Camera permission is requested when you take a photograph. Location permission is requested when you capture a GPS position. Android's system file and photo pickers are used when you choose existing files.

Voice dictation uses the speech recognition service available on your device. Depending on your device and chosen speech provider, dictated audio or text may be processed by that provider and may require an internet connection.

Purchases

Google Play processes the one-time Pro purchase and any AI credit top-ups. MorrLog does not receive your full payment card details. Your Pro status is determined from your Google Play purchases; MorrLog does not operate a separate account or licence server. For AI credit top-ups, MorrLog sends the Google Play purchase token and a device-scoped credit identifier to the MorrLog AI service so the purchase can be verified and the credit balance maintained.

Analytics and crash reporting

MorrLog uses Google Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase to record crash diagnostics and aggregated, non-identifying usage events (such as which features are used) to help improve the app. These services do not receive your project data, notes, photos, attachments, GPS coordinates or exports. Crash reports may include technical details such as your device model, Android version and the state of the app when a crash occurs.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual projects or use Delete All Data in Settings to remove local projects, files, drafts and settings from the device. Copies you have already exported or shared must be deleted separately.
